Required Experience:

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education, management, or a related field; a Montessori credential is highly desirable.
A minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in an organization, with a strong emphasis on educational initiatives.
Thorough understanding of Montessori philosophy and practices, with demonstrated fluency in Montessori education preferred.
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and lead fundraising efforts.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
AMI/USA Needs:

Build coherence within the organization and membership to create a unified narrative that all stakeholders can align with.
Develop a coherent position that integrates legacy and innovation, including technology.
Compensation:The compensation package will be competitive and commensurate with experience, including a benefits package that supports the health and well-being of the Executive Director.

Position Overview:

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for AMI/USA, ensuring the organization fulfills its mission and objectives. The ED oversees all aspects of operations, including program development, financial management, fundraising, public relations, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of Montessori principles, fluency in pedagogy from early childhood to adolescence, and a passion for educational reform.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate a strategic plan that aligns with AMI/USA’s mission and vision.
Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the organization, encouraging all staff and stakeholders to contribute ideas and solutions.
Serve as the primary spokesperson for AMI/USA, effectively communicating the organization’s mission, goals, and accomplishments to diverse audiences.
Program Development and Evaluation:

Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality programs and services that support Montessori educators, schools, and communities.
Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and impact, using data-driven insights to inform decisions and enhance service delivery.
Collaborate with educational institutions and partners to expand the reach of Montessori education.
Financial Management and Fundraising:

Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and financial sustainability.
Identify potential funding sources and cultivate relationships to support AMI/USA initiatives.
Oversee the financial reporting process, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial operations.
Board Relations and Governance:

Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing updates on organizational performance and strategic initiatives.
Assist in the recruitment and development of Board members, fostering a strong governance structure.
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Montessori schools, educators, parents, and policymakers.
Serve as a leading advocate for Montessori principles, engaging in discussions on human rights and social justice.
Organize community outreach efforts to raise awareness of Montessori education and its benefits.
Staff Management and Development:

Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of professionals, fostering a positive work environment.
Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to staff.
Support ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
