Required Experience:

Minimum Education & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, non-profit development, donor relations, grant writing, including committee work and strategic planning.
Minimum two years’ experience in managing a team of direct reports.
Impeccable interpersonal, oral and written communications skills to convey a strong and effective message about the work of the Sanneh.
Highly internet savvy, with experience in Word, Excel, donor databases, and other key software tools.
Have a passion for the mission, demonstrated effectiveness as a leader, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Possess the ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects, asking questions and using listening skills to encourage prospects and donors to talk about themselves and their activities.

Preferred Education & Qualifications
History of dedicated volunteer activity and/or commitment to non-profit organizations.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute major gift activities, including the ability to ask for and close gifts of $100K and above.
Results-driven with a high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage complex projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Possess the ability to initiate, lead, manage, and execute multiple projects simultaneously (project management).
Demonstrate prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people.
Willing to give and receive honest, constructive feedback, and act as a coach or mentor to staff.
Have a strong work ethic, take initiative, and require minimal direction.

Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Sanneh Foundation (“TSF”), the Vice President of Development (“VPD”) is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that advance the mission, vision, and financial sustainability of the organization. This executive leader oversees all aspects of development, including major gifts, grants, annual giving, planned giving, events, and donor relations. The VPD works closely with the Vice President of Finance, board members, and senior leadership to cultivate a strong culture of philanthropy and achieve ambitious revenue goals.


The VPD will support the CEO and TSF Board in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and others. The VPD will lead a team of professionals responsible for fundraising, volunteer cultivation, corporate philanthropic support, communications, public relations, marketing, and social media functions for the organization. The VPD is a member of the Executive Team and works together with the CEO and Executive Team to provide strategic leadership and fundraising stewardship for The Sanneh Foundation as a whole.


Role and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Set and monitor fundraising targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Provide regular reports and insights to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Fundraising Operations:
Oversee Foundation’s fundraising programs, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundations, annual campaigns, events, and digital giving.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-net-worth individuals and institutional donors.
Lead the development of grant proposals and manage grant reporting processes.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:
Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors.
Oversee donor recognition programs and ensure effective stewardship plans are in place.
Ensure accurate and timely donor data management and reporting.
Work alongside fellow Major Gift Officers at Sanneh Foundation to coordinate and steward relationships.

Team Management:
Lead and mentor the development team; build a high-performing fundraising department.
Recruit, train, and manage development staff and contractors.
Foster a collaborative and mission-driven work environment.

Board and Executive Collaboration:
Partner with board members to expand their fundraising roles and responsibilities.
Serve as the CEO’s thought partner and key advisor by participating in the foundation's planning and strategy sessions.
