Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field, required

Master’s Degree, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient in marketing writing and public relations work. Proficient in marketing methods involving social media, television, live streaming, radio, and print. Proficient in creating high end marketing graphics and other materials. Proficient in community relations, media relations, advertising, and crisis communications.

Experience:

Four (4) years experience in Journalism, Marketing and/or Community Relations, required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ensure that the office of Marketing and Communications operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the district.
Promote a positive, caring environment, while demonstrating behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible.
Create and market reports and other promotional materials related to the performance of the district and articulation of district goals and objectives.
Serve on Superintendent’s Executive Leadership Team as a sounding board regarding the District’s marketing and community outreach needs.
Supervise marketing and branding of the district through the creation of marketing campaigns and marketing materials that include print, video, radio, and electronic formats on the website, social media, marquees, scoreboard, and facilities, and through community-outreach District and community events.
Oversee creation of print, video, radio, and electronic publications and productions, including District magazines, booklets, newsletters, e-newsletters, e-newscasts, banners, pull-up banners, brochures, flyers, advertisements, info-graphics, website postings, social media postings, marquee postings, marketing stories, and other publications.
Supervise crisis and other communications through School Messenger for targeted text, audio, and email messaging to parents and staff.
Supervise media relations during the regular course of business and during crisis to accuracy, timeliness, and appropriateness.
Supervise advertising and revenue-generating contractual sponsorship agreements throughout the district through the use of facilities, scoreboard, marquees, events, mobile devices, website, apps, e-newsletters, banners, videos, as well as print, video, and online resources.
Supervise the management of the district website for dissemination of information for accuracy, timeliness, and appropriateness, stylistic and artistic appeal, and effectiveness of interactive media.
Supervise the management of the district social media for dissemination of information for accuracy, timeliness, and appropriateness, stylistic and artistic appeal, and effectiveness of interactive media.
Supervise the management of the district's cable access television channel, YouTube channel, and live streaming, including the production of broadcast informational programming, marketing videos, TV and Radio commercials, TV and Radio public service announcements, and TV series that air at District events, on the District channel, website, and social media, on area television stations, and at local cinemas.
Serve as General Manager of the district television studio, Cable Access Channel, and YouTube Channel by determining overall scope of work and goals, and by monitoring quality control.
Serve as Executive Director during the production of special events, including General Assembly and the Football Fan Experience to include live presentations, multi-camera production, video production, advertising sponsorships, etc.
Write speeches as needed for Superintendent and Board, including for graduations, general assembly, special events, community events, etc.
Develop application entries for competitive titles and honors, including Board of the Year, District of the Year, Superintendent of the Year, H-E-B Excellence in Education, etc.
Create and supervise Demonstration Tours and requests for special visits and presentations that market the District’s strengths.
Supervise coordination of Superintendent’s Speaker’s Bureau, including presentations to media and area organizations.
Supervise the district's Back-to-School General Assembly, Partner's in Excellence Program, Teacher of the Year Program, Student Ambassadors Program, Student Presidents Council, including related meetings, selection committees, and events-planning.
Evaluate job performance of employees and develop training options and/or improvement plans as needed.
Supervise budget and monitor effectiveness of programs to ensure efficient management of District resources.
Serve as district liaison to the community at large, including the McAllen Education Foundation, PTA/O, Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Group, and city-wide marketing efforts.
Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and the local board policy in the community relations area.
Articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of information to the community, initiate activities to meet identified needs, and solicit community support in realizing the mission.
Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

Daily Rate pay range:

Minimum: $410.00

Maximum: $572.04

Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

To oversee the branding and marketing of the district through marketing campaigns, District website, District Social Media, Live-Streaming, community outreach, advertising, revenue-generating sponsorships and print and electronic materials that generate support of the District’s needs, goals, objectives, and its position as the District of Choice.
